Company D (known as ‘Ngāti Walkabout/Ngāti Tipi Haere’)
This company was made up of soldiers from South Auckland, Waikato, Taranaki, Whanganui and Manawatū (on the West Coast of the North Island), from Wairarapa, from Hawkes Bay and Mahia (on the East Coast), the whole of the South Island, the Chatham Islands and Stewart Island. There were also soldiers from the Pacific Islands in this company. Some of the iwi in this region were Waikato, Ngāti Kahungunu and Kāi Tahu.
